Abstract

The current curriculum is the 2013 curriculum. In the curriculum, there are several competencies that must be achieved by students both in terms of knowledge and writing skills. One of the learning models of the 2013 curriculum is creative problem solving (CPS). Therefore, researchers are interested in finding out an improvement in the ability to write exposition texts using a creative problem solving (CPS) learning model. This study aims to determine the use of creative problem solving (CPS) learning models to improve the ability to write exposition texts in class X students of SMA Negeri 1 Pagaden. The population in this study was the entire class X of SMA Negeri 1 Pagaden jang totaling 432. The sample used in this study was class X social studies 2 which totaled 32 students. The method used in this study is an experimental method, namely pre-experimental designs which include One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The instrument used is an essay test question for writing an eschetic text with a validity test through expert judgment, namely to the teacher of the subject Indonesian SMA Negeri 1 Pagaden. The data analysis technique used in this study is quantitative data processing data through microsoft excel 2010 for data on average student scores while normality test, homogeneity test, hypothesis test and n-gain calculation through spss application version 20. The results of data processing from research that has been carried out show the ability to write exposition texts using a creative problem solving (CPS) learning model with an average score of 76.22, while the ability to write exposition tests before using the creative problem solving (CPS) learning model with an average score of 43.53. The normality test was 0.156 and 0.013 showed normally distributed data because it was more than 0.05. Furthermore, in the homogeneity test, the significance value of 0.778 showed that the data had the same variance because it was more than 0.05. Then test the hypothesis by testing two samples in pairs to see the difference in values before and after being treated, namely the significance value of 0.000 because it is less than 0.05 so there is a significant change. Next, the n-gain score test with a score of 0.40 states that the gain index of 0.72 is smaller than 0.70, then the n-gain score is moderate. That way it can be concluded that there is an increase in writing exposition texts in the use of the creative problem slolving (CPS) learning model for the ability to write exposition texts in class X students of SMA Negeri 1 Pagaden.
