Perubahan Makna dalam Penggunaan Narasi “Antek Asing” Oleh Prabowo: Analisis Konsumsi Teks Teori Wacana Kritis Fairclought

Abstract

This study aims to examine the changes in meaning in the use of the “foreign stooge”
narrative by Prabowo Subianto through a critical discourse analysis approach developed by
Norman Fairclough. The main data for the study were taken from a short video on the
TEMPO.CO Youtube channel that featured Prabowo’s statement regarding the term.
Qualitative methods were used to identify how the “foreign stooge” narrative shifted in
meaning from the campaign period to after Prabowo entered the circle of power. The
analysis was conducted with a focus on the dimensions of text, discursive practice, and
social practice as Fairclough’s three main dimensions, to examine the ideological
construction and rhetorical strategies used. The results of the study show that the “foreign
stooge” narrative was initially directed at the government as a political opponent, but was
later diverted to groups that criticized the government such as the media and NGOs after
Prabowo joined power. This shift in meaning reflects a strategic adaptation in political
communication that functions to maintain legitimacy and direct public opinion in the dynamic
and polarized socio-political context of Indonesia. This study emphasizes the role of political
discourse as an ideological tool that not only represents reality, but also shapes and
influences power structures through language.
