PENGARUH PENGGUNAAN MEDIA HUTA RASIO TERHADAP PEMAHAMAN KONSEP RASIO DAN PROPORSI DALAM KEHIDUPAN SEHARI-HARI PADA SISWA KELAS VI SEKOLAH DASAR NEGERI 104202

Abstract

Understanding the concepts of ratio and proportion is a crucial skill in mathematics education, as these concepts relate to various situations students encounter in daily life. However, grasping these concepts can be challenging if instruction is purely abstract and lacks connections to real-world experiences. Therefore, there is a need for instructional media capable of presenting mathematical concepts in a concrete, contextual, and interactive manner. This study aims to examine the improvement in students' understanding of ratio and proportion concepts in daily life contexts through the use of "Huta Rasio" media among sixth-grade students at SD Negeri 104202. The study employed a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental design—specifically, the One-Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The research subjects consisted of 20 sixth-grade students. Data were collected via a 20-item multiple-choice test administered before and after instruction using the Huta Rasio media. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, N-Gain calculations, and the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank test. The results indicate that the mean pretest score of 27.25 rose to 86.50 on the posttest, representing a mean increase of 59.25 points. The N-Gain score was 0.8295 (82.95%), placing it in the high category; 18 students (90%) fell into the high category, while 2 students (10%) fell into the medium category. The Wilcoxon test yielded a p-value of < 0.001, indicating a significant difference between the pretest and posttest results. These findings demonstrate that the use of Huta Rasio media supports improved student understanding of ratio and proportion concepts by facilitating contextual and interactive learning experiences. Thus, Huta Rasio serves as a viable alternative instructional medium for mathematics, helping students connect ratio and proportion concepts to real-life situations.
