Abstract

This study discusses the phenomenon of The Hurried Child among elementary school students in the digital era, referring to a condition in which children display behaviors and interaction patterns that appear more mature before reaching appropriate emotional and social readiness. The development of digital technology and unrestricted access to social media encourage children to imitate adolescent and adult lifestyles. This study aims to identify the forms of The Hurried Child behavior, analyze the role of Islamic Religious Education teachers in guiding students experiencing this phenomenon, and examine the supporting and inhibiting factors in the guidance process at Sekolah Dasar Negeri 1 Makarti Jaya. This study employed a descriptive case study with a qualitative approach. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation involving Islamic Religious Education teachers, the principal, and sixth-grade students. The findings show that the The Hurried Child phenomenon is manifested through the imitation of adult speaking styles, the use of slang, and participation in social media trends that are inappropriate for children's age. Islamic Religious Education teachers play roles as educators, mentors, role models, and motivators through the habituation of Islamic values, personal guidance, and the creation of a religious school environment. Supporting factors include a conducive school environment and cooperation with parents, while inhibiting factors include excessive digital media exposure, limited parental supervision, and limited teacher time for individual guidance. The study concludes that strengthening character through cooperation between schools and families is important in addressing children's behavioral development challenges in the digital era.
