PENINGKATAN KEMAMPUAN MENGENAL HURUF HIJAIYAH MELALUI METODE QIRO'ATI PADA ANAK USIA 5-6 TAHUN DI TK NURUL QUR'AN KOTA DUMAI

Abstract

This study aims to describe children's ability to recognize hijaiyah letters before, during, and after the implementation of the Qiro'ati method, and to explain how the method was applied to improve that ability among children aged 5-6 years at TK Nurul Qur'an, Dumai City. The study used a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design following the Kemmis and Mc. Taggart spiral model, carried out in two cycles consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection. The subjects were 22 children of Group B, comprising 9 girls and 13 boys. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed descriptively using percentage formulas. The results show that children's ability to recognize hijaiyah letters increased from 63% (good) in the pre-cycle to 76% (good) in Cycle I and 94% (very good) in Cycle II; the ability to memorize hijaiyah letters increased from 47% (fairly good) to 65% (good) and 84% (very good); and the ability to pronounce hijaiyah letters increased from 58% (fairly good) to 60% (good) and 82% (very good). The overall learning outcome rose from 56% (fairly good) in the pre-cycle to 67% (good) in Cycle I and 87% (very good) in Cycle II. These findings indicate that the Qiro'ati method is effective in improving young children's ability to recognize, memorize, and pronounce hijaiyah letters.
