PENGARUH KECERDASAN EMOSIONAL TERHADAP PRESTASI BELAJAR SISWA KELAS XI JURUSAN IPS DI SMA PGRI CIBADAK

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of emotional intelligence on the learning achievement of eleventh-grade students in the Social Science Department at SMA PGRI Cibadak. This research was conducted based on the importance of students' ability to recognize, manage, and control emotions as one of the factors that may support academic success. The research method used was a quantitative approach with a survey method. The population and sample in this study consisted of 57 eleventh-grade students in the Social Science Department at SMA PGRI Cibadak, selected using a saturated sampling technique. Data were collected through an emotional intelligence questionnaire using a Likert scale, while learning achievement data were obtained from students' academic records. The data were analyzed using simple linear regression with the assistance of IBM SPSS Statistics version 20. The results showed that emotional intelligence had a positive and significant effect on students' learning achievement. The hypothesis testing results indicated that emotional intelligence significantly influenced learning achievement. The coefficient of determination showed that emotional intelligence contributed 94.5% to students' learning achievement, while the remaining percentage was influenced by other factors outside this study. These findings indicate that emotional intelligence plays an important role in supporting students' academic achievement, therefore schools and teachers need to pay attention to emotional intelligence development in the learning process.
