PENGARUH MANAJEMEN WAKTU DAN MOTIVASI BELAJAR TERHADAP PROKRASTINASI AKADEMIK PADA MAHASISWA PROGRAM STUDI PENDIDIKAN BISNIS ANGKATAN 2023
Abstract
Academic procrastination is a common behavior among university students that may lower academic achievement. This study examines the effect of time management and learning motivation on academic procrastination among students of the Business Education Study Program, Faculty of Economics, Universitas Negeri Medan, class of 2023. A quantitative approach was used, with all 61 members of the population included as respondents. Data were collected through a validated and reliable five-point Likert questionnaire and analyzed using multiple linear regression, t-test, F-test, and the coefficient of determination. The results show that time management has no significant effect on academic procrastination (Sig. = 0.998), learning motivation also has no significant effect (Sig. = 0.094) despite its negative coefficient direction being consistent with the hypothesis, and simultaneously both variables have no significant effect on academic procrastination (F = 2.235; Sig. = 0.116), accounting for only 7.2% of the variance (R² = 0.072). These findings suggest that academic procrastination in this group of students is largely explained by factors beyond time management and learning motivation, such as self-control, digital distraction, or psychological pressure, indicating that interventions focusing solely on these two variables may not be sufficient to reduce procrastination behavior
