MENINGKATKAN LITERASI AL-QUR’AN ANAK MELALUI PENDAMPINGAN PEMBELAJARAN TAJWID DI TIBAN 1 RT 002/RW 013

Abstract

This article describes a Qur’anic learning assistance program focusing on basic tajwid for children in Tiban 1 RT 002/RW 013, Batam. The program was conducted as part of a community service activity during the implementation of the Student Community Service Program (KKN). The activity involved approximately 50 children and was carried out for ten learning days from Monday to Friday, from 16.00 to 17.30. The initial observation indicated that several children were able to read the Qur’an but had difficulty applying basic tajwid rules consistently. The assistance used a participatory and practice-oriented approach through explanation, teacher modeling, group and individual practice, direct correction, repetition, and short evaluations. The learning materials emphasized basic tajwid rules relevant to the children’s reading level, including makharij al-huruf, mad, qalqalah, nun sukun and tanwin, mim sukun, and waqf and ibtida’. Data were collected through observation, informal interviews, documentation, and comparison of children’s reading performance before and after the assistance. The activity showed positive changes in children’s ability to recognize and practice basic tajwid rules, particularly when reading selected Qur’anic verses under direct guidance. The children also became more confident and responsive during reading practice. These findings indicate that regular, contextual, and directly supervised tajwid assistance can support improvement in children’s Qur’anic reading skills.
