PENGARUH PENGGUNAAN MEDIA SOSIAL DALAM PENDIDIKAN TERHADAP PRESTASI AKADEMIK MURID SD/MI DI PURBALINGGA
Abstract
The advancement of digital technology has brought about tangible changes in learning practices within elementary schools and madrasah ibtidaiyah (Islamic elementary schools). Social media, initially used for communication and entertainment, is now being utilized to support the learning process. This study aims to examine the impact of social media use in education on students' academic achievement at State Elementary School 3 Kembangan and MI Ma’arif NU Metenggeng in Purbalingga Regency. The study highlights how students utilize social media in their learning activities and the resulting effects on academic outcomes. The findings indicate that when used constructively, social media can provide students with broader access to learning resources, boost motivation, and foster interaction and collaboration in the learning process. However, without proper management, social media usage has the potential to disrupt students' concentration. These findings underscore the crucial role of educators and schools in guiding the wise use of social media and instilling digital literacy from the elementary education level.
